Alcohol Coming to a Theatre Near You

Yup that’s right! Now, to go along with the obnoxious kids and “Tommy Texters”, we’re gonna have to deal with drunks in the movie theatres.

Changes to The Liquor Control Act will allow alcohol to be served in movie theatres in Manitoba. The Manitoba Liquor Control Commission amended the liquor licensing regulation under the Liquor Control act to allow alcohol service within a movie theatre complex under a special activities license.

There will be restrictions such as; the licensed portion of the movie theatre complex may not comprise more than 50 per cent of the theatres within that complex. Liquor service will be restricted only to those licensed theatres and not be allowed to enter the unlicensed portion of the complex.

If you think about it, if soft drinks are ~$8 at concession stands, how much do you think a bottle of beer will cost you?
