Gus and Tony's at the Park

Hello Winnipeg, we are Mr. and Mrs. Restaurant. We’re passionate about food, but not about cooking. After growing tired of everyday chain restaurants, we began our search for the best hidden eateries the city has to offer. Ever wonder if that trendy new place is worth the money; or if that greasy burger joint lives up to all the hype? Just ask Mr. and Mrs. Restaurant!

We had been hearing mixed reviews about this place, and since we used to eat at Park Tower fairly often, we were anxious to try out Gus & Tony’s for ourselves. The space has been slightly renovated, allowing it to differentiate itself from the Park Tower. The menu does as well, especially with the option of breakfast.

In addition to the Greek favourites that we’d all expect to see on the menu, there is also a good selection of classic fare like burgers, wings and sandwiches. We had the calamari, the chicken gyro and a chicken burger platter. The calamari was very impressive; small and lightly battered pieces were tender but not chewy. We will definitely order this again!

The chicken burger had a crispy, thin batter and a unique-tasting house made sauce.

We really enjoyed this casual meal, and the friendly atmosphere it was served in. Although Gus & Tony’s tends to get crowded at times, you can definitely sense the pride in ownership here, through the genuine family-owned feel. Co-owner Gus was a former owner of the popular Daly Burgers, so we are excited to revisit Gus & Tony’s to try out the beef burgers or the clubhouse, which we’ve also heard great things about.
