The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have unveiled their 2014 CFL schedule, which kicks off the entire CFL season on Thursday, June 26th at Investors Group Field when the Bombers welcome the Toronto Argonauts.
“We are extremely excited with the release of our schedule and our return to the West Division,” said Blue Bomber President and CEO Wade Miller. “For the second straight year, our fans and Investors Group Field will open the CFL season, and we anticipate great things both on the field and in the stands this year.”
The Bombers will host three of the first four games at home, including a matchup with the expansion Ottawa REDBLACKS on Thursday, July 3rd, Ottawa’s first regular season game in franchise history. The Blue Bombers will also welcome rival and Grey Cup champion Saskatchewan Roughriders twice this season, including a Thursday, August 7th contest, and in the Manitoba Lotteries Banjo Bowl on Sunday, September 7th.
In all, the popularity of football on Thursday’s in Manitoba’s capital dominates the schedule, as the Bombers will play their first four home games on Thursday evenings, with one Friday night game, one Sunday afternoon game, and three Saturday games. All weekday home games have been moved to 7:30 p.m. kickoff to accommodate fans arriving at Investors Group Field.
