Folklorama 2014: United Kingdom Pavilion

After years of being absent from Folklorama, the United Kingdom have come together and have brought forward a brand new pavilion that is truly a must see!

From the moment you step foot into the venue hall you can feel the lively spirit of the UK. The ambassadors who greet you are both kind and very knowledgeable.

Make sure to arrive early as their cultural display is one that you don’t want to miss! From Sheep’s in the courtyard to a wall full of famous and highly influential people to dessert tables and a photo booth where you can dress up and take a picture in your favourite hat!

Once you’ve found a seat in the large hall, you’re entertained by the Village Green Morris Men who have a few dance numbers to showcase before the main show begins. Ace Burpee was also present and engaged the audience by putting together a Pub Quiz which helped set the mood for the main event!

The show was nothing short of amazing and the hospitality was at the top, if not one of the best we’ve experienced. The dancers and singers were all accompanied by a live band, which really helped bring life to the stage performances. Upbeat and energetic would best describe the atmosphere which surrounded us and the crowd was truly engaged and enjoying every minute of it.

A trip to the UK would not be complete without sampling some of their delicious dishes, desserts and beverages. The Shepherds Pie and Beef Pie were both perfectly spiced and the meat was simply delicious. For dessert, the imperial cookies were my favourite, until I tried the Vegan Chocolate Cake! It was moist and offered just the right amount of sweetness to satisfy a sweet tooth. A must try for all you chocolate lovers and vegans too!

To wash everything down, I recommend trying the “Rock Shandy” which is the non-alcoholic cultural drink. It’s a citrus’y, bubbly and refreshing beverage that I’m sure the kids will truly enjoy. They also offer a wide variety of alcoholic beverages which I’m sure will satisfy any taste bud.

The shows have been selling out so arrive early to avoid disappointment! Line ups get long rather quickly, but it’s truly worth the wait!

So what are you waiting for? Go and see one of the most talked about and highly rated pavilions this year! Take a trip to the United Kingdom!
