It’s going to be bittersweet… the last long weekend of summer 2014 has arrived. Let’s make it a good one! Here’s a list of what’s open and what’s closed for the September long weekend.


Shopping
The following are closed on Monday, September 1:

  • St. Vital Centre
  • Polo Park Shopping Centre
  • Kildonan Place
  • Garden City Shopping Centre

Grocery Stores
The following are closed on Monday, September 1:

  • Walmart
  • Superstore
  • Safeway
  • Sobeys

For those headed to the U.S. for the long weekend, here are the mall hours…

Columbia Mall, Grand Forks:

  • Saturday: 10am – 9pm
  • Sunday: Noon – 6pm
  • Monday: 10am – 9pm

West Acres, Fargo:

  • Saturday: 10am – 9pm (Food court: 8:30am – 9:00pm)
  • Sunday: Noon – 6pm (Food court: 11:00am – 6:00pm)
  • Monday: 10am – 9pm (Food court: 8:30am – 9:00pm)

All civic offices are closed on Monday, September 1, 2014.

Recycling/Garbage Collection

Recycling, garbage and yard waste will be collected as normally scheduled for those with Monday as a collection day.

On Monday, September 1, Winnipeg Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule.

Leisure Centres

All Leisure Centres will be closed on Monday, September 1.

Regular hours are in effect for Leisure Centres on Saturday, August 30, and Sunday, August 31 with the exception of St. James Civic Centre pool and fitness facility, which is closed from Saturday, August 30 to Monday, September 1.

Swimming Pools

All City of Winnipeg indoor swimming pools will be closed on Monday, September 1.

Libraries

All Winnipeg Public Libraries will be closed on Monday, September 1.

Effective September 2, Winnipeg Public Library’s summer hours end, and regular hours resume. For Winnipeg Public Library operating hours, visit Winnipeg Public Library – Operating Hours.

Online services, including catalogue searches, requests/renewals, databases, and eBooks are available anytime at Winnipeg Public Library.

Animal Services Agency

Hours of operation for the Animal Services Agency during the Labour Day long weekend are as follows:

Friday, August 29 Regular hours – 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Saturday, August 30 Regular hours – Noon to 5:00 p.m.
Sunday, August 31 Regular hours – Noon to 5:00 p.m.
Monday, September 1 Closed
Tuesday, September 2 Regular hours – 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
