Canadian Women’s Quadruple Sculls Team Give One Last Try at the Finals

The Canadian Women’s Quadruple Sculls Team, including Winnipeg-native Janine Hanson fell short to qualify for the Women’s Quadruple Sculls finals yesterday.

Women’s Quadruple Sculls Heat 1
1. China 6:11.83
2. Ukraine 6:17.84
3. Canada 6:23.27
4. Russia 6:26.21

Women’s Quadruple Sculls Heat 2
1. Great Britain 6:13.70
2. Germany 6:15.26
3. United States 6:19.89
4. Australia 6:20.95

China and Great Britain has automatically advanced to the finals where teams that placed 2-4 in both heats (including Canada) will advanced to a Repechage round. Only the top 4 teams in the Repechage round will advance to the final round. With all the strength in Heat 2, Canada will need to step it up if they plan on making it to the finals.

The reperchage takes place Tuesday, August 12, 2008 with the finals on Sunday, August 17, 2008.
