Residential Overnight Parking Ban Tonight at Midnight

Plowing of residential (Priority III) streets will begin today, Sunday, January 4, at 7:00 p.m.

The public is advised that plowing of residential streets will begin at 7:00 p.m. today. To aid plowing operations, the Residential Overnight Parking Ban has been declared effective Sunday night , January 4, 2009 at midnight. This ban prohibits parking between midnight and 6:00 a.m. on all streets not designated as snow routes. Vehicles parked on affected streets during the prohibited times are subject to being ticketed. Plowing is expected to be completed by Friday, January 9, 2009.

Sanding of streets is ongoing to improve traction on the roadways and will continue around-the-clock.

Plowing of sidewalks is also in progress and will continue throughout the week.

Plowing of back lanes will begin Monday morning, January 5, 2009, at 7 a.m. and will continue until completed.

Once the plowing of residential streets is finished, a major snow hauling operation on main routes and bus routes will be undertaken to remove high snow piles and windrows on the boulevards, bridges and underpasses. To assist this operation, temporary no parking signs will be placed at locations where snow is being removed. Motorists are requested to refrain from parking where temporary parking restrictions are in effect.

Motorists are also reminded that the annual Snow Route Overnight Parking Ban, that went into effect on December 1, 2008, remains in effect until March 1, 2009. The public should note that if they park a vehicle on a street designated as a Snow Route, that vehicle must be moved by 2:00 a.m.
