Fluffy’s Law in Winnipeg

Over the past few months many people have been talking about Fluffy’s law and social network sites have been buzzing about this initiative.

Fluffy’s law is also know as Bill 218. It’s being pushed by the Provincial Liberal party. In brief, Fluffy’s law will give apartment dwellers the right to own pets. Fluffy’s law has already been passed in Ontario. You can read more the entire bill here.

This issue has been hitting home with me in the last few months when I got a notice to get rid of my cat within five days or I would be facing eviction. Again last week they wanted to do a yearly suite inspection which I had to, in very short notice, find a place to keep her for the day. I can NEVER phone for maintenance unless I have a place to keep her for a week.

Whether or not you live in an apartment or have an animal, please take the time to support this. Animals are family members and I don’t know what i would do without mine! We need all the support we can get.

Unfortunately they are unable to use online petitions which would make this convenient, however you can get/sign a petition by emailing Leah Ross or Michelle Nyhoff. I have on up at my office!

There will also be a rally at the Manitoba Legislative Building on Saturday May 8th from 11am to 1pm. Please show up! Every person helps!

You can find additional information on the Manitoba Liberals webpage or on the facebook fan page.
