Winnipeg Pit Bull Ban May Be Lifted

The Winnipeg Humane Society and city activists are pushing to lift a 22 year long ban on Pit Bulls in Winnipeg. The ban was placed 1989 when young girls were hospitalized after being attacked while walking home from school. The breed was considered too dangerous and a threat to safety.

From the looks of it, city council probably won’t lift the ban. Pit Bulls have a history to be trained for criminal purposes. Mainly used to guard drug dens and used for other means of protection. But an argument can also be made that you can train any dog to attack people.

What do you think?

Voting can go either way, but I suspect city council to take the safe route and keep the ban in place.
