Cinema City McGillivray Closing July 9 to be Renovated Into VIP Cinemas

Cinema City McGillivray will temporarily close on Monday, July 9, 2012, for the next phase of a $4.5 million renovation project. The theatre’s 12 existing auditoriums will be converted to eight traditional auditoriums and three VIP cinemas. VIP cinemas will similar to dinner theatre where you are served at your seat. Concessions will include specialized offerings, including flatbread pizza, calamari, and yes… alcoholic beverages.

Once it reopens in the fall, it will be called Cineplex Odeon McGillivray and VIP Cinemas and no longer classified as cheap seats. It will be a first run theatre equipped with the latest cinema technology, including larger screens, Dolby digital surround sound, Christie Solaria Series DLP Cinema projectors and RealD 3D technology. For cheap seats, you’ll have to head to the North Gate Cinema City location.

With VIP Cinemas, guests enjoy a premium entertainment experience available exclusively in Canada at Cineplex Entertainment theatres. They feature auditoriums exclusively for adult guests, in-seat menu service, a private licensed lounge and a dedicated box office. VIP auditoriums feature reserved seating enabling guests to select their specific seat at the time of purchase. A VIP auditorium also features full stadium seating with larger, upgraded leather seats interspersed with table tops embedded in their armrest. Once seated, a cast member will present the guest with a menu and take their concession order. Ordered items will be delivered directly to the guest at their seat. Guests can also enjoy a private lounge before and after a movie.
