Labour Day Long Weekend 2012 Closures

Here it is Winnipeg, the last long weekend of the summer! Have anything special planned? For those planning to stay in the city, here’s a list of what’s open and what’s closed for September Long 2012.

Shopping
The following are closed on Monday, September 3:
– St. Vital Centre
– Polo Park Shopping Centre
– Kildonan Place
– Garden City Shopping Centre

All civic offices are closed on Monday, September 3.

Recycling/Garbage Collection Schedule

Single-family homes
For residents that are already receiving automated collection services for both garbage and recycling carts, collection will continue as noted on the calendar provided with the new carts.

For all other residents, there will be no recycling or garbage collection on Monday, September 3. Collection will resume on Tuesday, September 4 – Day 5 on the five-day cycle.

Multi-family apartments
Recycling and garbage collection will continue as normally scheduled.

Brady Road Landfill hours of operation
Saturday, September 1 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Sunday, September 2 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Monday, September 3 5:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Winnipeg Transit Holiday Service Schedule
For Monday, September 3, Winnipeg Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule.

Libraries
All Winnipeg Public Libraries will be closed on Monday, September 3.

Online services, including catalogue searches, requests/renewals, databases, and eBooks are available anytime at winnipeg.ca/library/.

Leisure Centres
All Leisure Centres are closed on Monday, September 3.

Regular hours of operation for Leisure Centres are in effect for Saturday, September 1 and Sunday, September 2.

Swimming Pools

Indoor Pools
All City of Winnipeg indoor swimming pools will be closed on Monday, September 3 with the exception of the Cindy Klassen Recreation Centre which will be open from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m.

Outdoor Pools
Weather permitting, the following four outdoor pools will be open on Saturday, September 1, Sunday, September 2 and Monday, September 3: Freight House, Kildonan Park, Fort Garry Lion’s and Westdale.

Wading Pools
The following wading pools will be open on Monday, September 3:

Pritchard Park
Harrow Park
Dakota Park
Bronx Park
JH Bruns Park
Central Park
Keenleyside Park
McKittrick Park
Norquay Community Centre
Shaughnessy Park
Pascoe Park
Vimy Ridge Park
John Steele Park
Pirates Park

Operating hours vary by wading pool, however most are open 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Please note: each wading pool closes one hour early on its last operating day of the season.

Spray Pads
Nine unsupervised spray pads are open over the long weekend at the following locations:

Fort Rouge Park
Lindenwoods Community Centre
Provencher Park
River Heights Community Centre
St. Norbert Community Centre
Shaughnessy Park
Central Park
Vimy Ridge Park
River East

Effective, Friday, August 31, Spray pad operating hours will be 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Spray pads will continue to operate until Sunday, September 16.

Animal Services Agency

The Animal Services Agency will be closed on Monday, September 3.

Regular weekend hours of operation for Animal Services are in effect for Saturday, September 1 and Sunday, September 2

Cemeteries
Cemetery grounds at Brookside, St. Vital and Transcona Cemeteries will be open for visitation from dawn to dusk over the holiday weekend including Sunday, September 2 and Monday, September 3.

Golf Courses

Winnipeg Parking Authority
