Winnipeg Gets Live Traffic in Google Maps

Google has activated live traffic for Winnipeg in its Google Maps web application. Simply check off the ‘Live Traffic’ option on the upper right hand corner of the map.

How does live traffic work? If you use Google Maps for mobile with GPS enabled on your phone, you send anonymous bits of data back to Google describing how fast you’re moving. When they combine your speed with the speed of other phones on the road, across thousands of phones moving around a city at any given time, they can get a pretty good picture of live traffic conditions.

Pretty cool! Red marks slow traffic areas, and Green marks fast. [GOOGLE MAPS]
