The City has approve a $21-million, seven-year photo radar contract to keep Photo Radar on Winnipeg streets. The vote was 14 to 2 in favour of the contract renewal. ACS Public Sector Solutions will supply and operate digital photo enforcement in Winnipeg, from Jan. 1, 2013 until May 31, 2020.

According to a police survey, 83% of the public approve of photo radar. There are currently 50 Winnipeg intersections set up for red-light cameras – but only 31 actual cameras rotating through them. There are also 10 mobile units that rotate throughout the city. [CTV WINNIPEG]
