Winnipeg Police Crack Down on Sunday Night Cruise Night

Winnipeg Police were out in full force this weekend for the Sunday Cruise Night Traffic Enforcement.

Officers pulled over numerous motorists, some of which were noted as suspended drivers, operating a motor vehicle while using cellular devices and one driver in particular travelling at an excessive speed.

However, Winnipeg Police noted that the majority of individuals who cruised on cruise night did so in a responsible, respectful and legal manner.


The following warnings were issued to drivers:

  • 1 – Alcohol Screening Device (Warning)
  • 5 – Excessive Noise
  • 5 – License Plate related
  • 8 – Required Equipment
  • 10 – Window Tint
  • 6 – Seatbelt

A total of 55 tickets were issued to drivers throughout the evening:

  • 7 – License Plate related
  • 1 – Novice driver with BAC (Blood Alcohol Content)
  • 1 – Speeding (130 km/h in 80 km/h zone)
  • 6 – Cellular Phone (Distracted Driving)
  • 2 – Suspended Drivers
  • 15 – Fail to Have Required Equipment (Resulting in 6 towed off out of service)
  • 4 – Seatbelt Violations
  • 5 – Window Tint Violations
  • 5 – Prohibited Lighting
  • 2 – No Insurance
  • 1 – Drive Imprudent
  • 6 others include offences relating to headphones etc….

Winnipeg Police Service continues to receive complaints regarding racing, dangerous operation of motor vehicles, and noisy operation of motor vehicles. These complaints come from all areas of the city.

The goal of the enforcement is to ensure the safety of all those that use Winnipeg’s roadways.
