Ivanhoé Cambridge has officially launched construction work for Outlet Collection Winnipeg. The $200-million project is set to open in May 2017.

Outlet Collection Winnipeg will be Manitoba’s first pure outlet shopping destination and offer more than 400,000 sq ft of shopping with over 100 popular outlet brands.

It’s Ivanhoé Cambridge’s second outlet centre. Their first Outlet Collection was built at Niagara and opened in May 2014. A third outlet centre will open at Edmonton International Airport in 2017.

The massive centre will be located within the northwest quadrant of Kenaston Boulevard and Sterling Lyon Parkway.

“As Winnipeg grows and we see more exciting projects like Outlet Collection Winnipeg, it continues to support the greater vision for our city,” said Councillor Marty Morantz. “Attracting national business while supporting the local economy are key elements to ensuring Winnipeg thrives with a modern and sustainable future, and I would like to thank Ivanhoé Cambridge and partners for selecting Winnipeg as one of their premier shopping destinations.”

“Not only are we bringing a new and exciting shopping experience to Winnipeg, we are also proud to invest in the creation of several hundred new jobs during and after construction,” declared Paul Gleeson, Executive Vice President, Global Development at Ivanhoé Cambridge. “Outlet Collection Winnipeg will complement existing and future surrounding commercial development through attractive landscaping, intuitive wayfinding, comfortable public spaces and integrated public transit.”

“Ivanhoé Cambridge’s expertise in the development of fashion outlet centres in Canada is unparalleled and we are confident that this project will represent an iconic shopping destination for both the residents of Winnipeg and tourists from the neighbouring provinces and northern US states,” said Blair Forster, President, Forster Projects Inc. “Outlet Collection Winnipeg represents the cornerstone of our overall vision for the 117 acre mixed-use project we have named “Seasons, which will undoubtedly make this area Winnipeg’s dominant retail address”.
