The Emergency Room at Seven Oaks General Hospital will close on Monday, July 22, 2019 and transition to an Urgent Care centre.

The closure is part of the Pallister government’s plan to overhaul the health care system. Urgent care facilities are designed to treat urgent, but not life-threatening health concerns.

With the new system, there are now 3 tiers of health care in Winnipeg:

  • Doctor or Clinic:
    • For minor illnesses, flu, rashes or infections that can wait for an appointment
  • Urgent Care:
    • Non-life threatening illnesses or injuries that cannot wait for you to see your family doctor
  • Emergency:
    • Life threatening issues such as stroke/facial weakness/extremity weakness/heart attack/chest pain or tightness
