St. Vital Bridge East Sidewalk Will Be Closed Until December 2021

The closure of the east sidewalk on the St. Vital Bridge has been extended until December 2021.

The side walk was closed last year to accommodate a large-scale sewer main replacement. The work requires temporary pipes to be run on the east sidewalk of the bridge. The sidewalk on the west side of the bridge will remain open.

Cyclists should be prepared to share the road or look for alternative routes using the City’s bike map.

Construction of the new sewer main is anticipated to begin in spring or summer 2021. Replacing sewer mains helps protect our rivers and lakes, and is one of the steps the City takes to meet its Environment Act Licence requirements.
