Winnipeg Adds Four Free Charging Stations for Electric Vehicles

The City of Winnipeg has added new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at four City facilities. The stations are currently free to use as part of a new pilot program.

The Level 2 public charging stations can be found at

  • Seven Oaks Pool
  • Bill and Helen Norrie Library
  • Kildonan Park
  • St. Vital Park

Each station has two EV chargers available.

“With Council adoption of the Winnipeg Climate Action Plan, there was an opportunity to support the adoption of zero emission vehicles by increasing the availability of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in public spaces,” said Lindsay Mierau, Manager of the Office of Sustainability. “This pilot program is free to the public and intends to showcase how public EV chargers can supplement charging at home and help reduce range anxiety.”

The Winnipeg Climate Action Plan takes aim at greenhouse gas reduction targets because fossil fueled modes of transportation are responsible for nearly half of the total emissions in Winnipeg.
