DESCRIPTION:The public is invited to meet Canadian swimming legend Mark Tewksbury at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights on Thursday\, July 23 from 2 p.m.to 3 p.m. and view a new exhibit about sports and human rights\, in which Tewksbury is featured. The exhibit has been developed for the Year of Sport in Canada (2015). It is located in the Museum’s introductory “What are Human Rights?” gallery. Regular admission fees apply. \nTewksbury won a gold medal in the 100-metre backstroke at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona\, but did not feel safe coming out publicly as a gay man until 1998. Since then\, he has been a tireless advocate for the rights of athletes of all sexual orientations and gender identities.
