Teams will also compete for a shot at an invitation to the Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational Barbecue Competition (Lynchburg\, Tennessee)\, the World Food Championships (Orange Beach\, Alabama) and the American Royal Championships (Kansas City\, Missouri). \nConcert passes\, which include both outdoor festival site access and reserved seating for headlining concerts at Burton Cummings Theatre are available for $129.00\, $99.00 or $69.00 (2 day pass) or individual day concert passes start at $39.00. DESCRIPTION:The two day event takes place August 16 to 17 at Shaw Park and will feature the best in local\, national and international blues performers along with the Winnipeg Free Press Pit Masters BBQ competition. \nThe Winnipeg Free Press Pit Masters Championship is a Kansas City Barbecue Society sanctioned BBQ competition. Open to amateurs and professionals\, contestants from many regions of Canada and the United States will be competing for points and prizes. The coveted prize for the “Grand Champion” will include an automatic invite to the World Food Competition in Las Vegas\, Nevada as well as a chance at an invitation to the Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational Barbecue Competition in Lynchburg\, Tennessee. \nSaturday and Sunday are sure to bring other special food and barbecue events and activities.  Stay tuned for more details. \nOther events will include an artisan’s village\,  food vendors\, multiple beverage gardens\, and BBQ and other food demonstrations.

The longer answer: a fascinating mix of independent theatre. This year\, the Fringe will host more than 170 companies from across Canada and around the world who will bring amazing plays to enthusiastic and adventurous audiences. \nIndoor shows take place daily from noon to midnight in 32 venues around downtown.\nWe have something for everyone: comedy\, drama\, musicals\, dance\, improv…and so many more unique and original productions that don’t fit into any category. \nTickets are ridiculously affordable: only $5 to $10! \nDOES EVERYTHING TAKE PLACE INDOORS? \nDefinitely not. The Fringe takes over Old Market Square in the Exchange District during the festival. During the day\, Kids Fringe offers live entertainment and hands-on activities for children and their families. And the Outdoor Stage buzzes with music\, street performers and other incredible entertainment from noon to midnight every day. Fringing at Old Market Square also includes shopping\, refreshments and people watching!

SUMMARY:2014 Winnipeg Folk Festival
DESCRIPTION:The inaugural Winnipeg Folk Festival was held in 1974 as a one-time celebration to mark Winnipeg’s 100th anniversary. It was a free event and attracted an estimated audience of 22\,000 over the three-day weekend. \nThe gathering in 1974 created a community and laid down important roots in Birds Hill Provincial Park that remain strong today. The summer festival’s cumulative attendance now exceeds 80\,000 and includes thousands of visitors and performers from across North America and around the world. \nIt’s all accomplished with nearly 3000 dedicated volunteers who contribute well over 60\,000 hours each year to create the magic that is the Winnipeg Folk Festival.
