SUMMARY:The Room - With Greg Sestero Live - Night 1
DESCRIPTION:The Room’s Greg Sestero – Live at the Park for a screening of the Room\, QnA and more.\n\n\nThe Park Theatre Presents \nOh Hi Mark\, The Room Screening’s with Greg Sestero \nMonday\, Nov 1st\, 2021 \nDates moved from 2020 due to COVID-19 \nWhether or not Tommy Wiseau intentionally shot his film as a “black comedy”\, or if he is simply a completely inept filmmaker (and actor) is utterly irrelevant. THE ROOM will stand the test of time as one of the most mind-bendingly awesome offerings to ever drop from the celluloid heavens. \nCompletely financed and distributed by Mr. Wiseau\, this divine piece of WTF-ery has built a cult following playing midnight screenings across the country and solidified its place as an insanely unique phenomenon. The Guardian described it as a mix of “Tennessee Williams\, Ed Wood and R. Kelly’s Trapped in the Closet.” That’s about as apt a description as we could possibly provide \n \nActor Greg Sestero will appear live at the screening. Since co-starring in THE ROOM\, Sestero has co-written the book “The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside The Room\, the Greatest Bad Movie Ever Made.”

SUMMARY:The Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra presents Duke Ellington & The Chaos of Newport
DESCRIPTION:The Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra presents Duke Ellington & The Chaos of Newport – November 3\, 2021 at 7:30pm\n\n\nThe most famous band in jazz was playing empty rooms in the early 1950s. As jazz fans turned to cutting-edge bebop over the old big-band swing\, Ellington was forced to pay his band members out of pocket. That all changed at the 1956 Newport Jazz Festival and a chaotic night that lives in infamy. Join the Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra\, featuring saxophonist Niall Bakastaad-Legare\, as we pay tribute to the remarkable night that revived Duke Ellington’s Big Band\, landed him on the cover of TIME Magazine\, and rocketed him back to superstardom. \n—– \nThe West End Cultural Centre believes a healthy community is at the heart of everything we do. In accordance with the Manitoba Government and Manitoba Health protocols – \n\nAll performers\, crew\, staff\, volunteers\, and patrons must show proof of vaccination and photo ID before they can enter the venue. \nFace masks are required on all WECC premises. Please wear your mask when not seated at a table and/or when not drinking or eating. \n\nThese practices are meant to keep all of us safe to enjoy all the art and music that Winnipeg has to offer.

SUMMARY:Bullrider
DESCRIPTION:A wonderful mix of high energy guitars\, tight bass lines\, captivating rhythm sections that make you wanna dance\, and you’re now allowed to!\n\n\nA four piece Indie Rock band based out of Winnipeg Manitoba. With a wonderful mix of high energy guitars\, tight bass lines\, captivating rhythm sections that make you wanna get up and dance\, and strong emphasis on songwriting makes this band a stand out creature on its own. \n \nWith each member having their own unique talents\, brought in from numerous other projects\, BULLRIDER reflects a well rounded and more sophisticated style of songwriting\, which shines through each of the tracks from the “Hidden gems…” album. “Writing this record\, from idea to completion\, was like watching a picture come into focus. As different as we all are\, it just makes sense. With this many compatiable writers in one room\, it’s exciting to see what we can make happen next.”\, says lyricist\, Bobby Desjarlais. \n \nWith a slew of notable show experiences (Canada Day @ The Forks Wpg\, Harvest Moon Festival\, Dauphins Country Fest\, ManyFest.) on a wide range of stages\, BULLRIDER draws on a complete pallet of emotions – from fun loving chorus’\, dark and heartbroken versus\, to haunting and even psychedelic bridges. BULLRIDER’s debut album\, ‘Hidden Gems and the Love of Another’\, is set to release early November\, 2018. \n \n“If you are interested in alt rock music\, Bullrider is a rising band that you need to check out. They can write some of the most infectious hooks we’ve heard in recent memory.”- Eartothegroundmusic \n \nComprised of Ben Ferguson (Ash Koley)\, Chris Peluk (Alverstone\, Mad Young Darlings)\, Tom Sinnott and Bobby Desjarlais (The Bokononists\, Attica Riots).

SUMMARY:Raine Maida & Chantal Kreviazuk – FALL 2021 TOUR
DESCRIPTION:RAINE MAIDA & CHANTAL KREVIAZUK\n\n\nThe Park Theatre Presents \nRAINE MAIDA & CHANTAL KREVIAZUK \nLive in the intimate setting of the Park Theatre \nWednesday\, November 10th\, 2021 \nDoors 7 pm | Show 8 pm \n$50 advance \nChantal Kreviazuk and Raine Maida \n \nChantal Kreviazuk\, a two-time JUNO Award winner and Raine Maida — a four-time winner with Our Lady Peace — are one of Canada’s most influential cultural couples. \nKreviazuk made her critically acclaimed full-length debut\, Under These Rocks and Stones\, in 1997. Since then\, the Winnipeg born singer-songwriter has released five more studio albums\, and garnered five JUNO Award nominations. Maida has forged a dynamic career as a solo artist and the front man for the band Our Lady Peace\, 25-time JUNO Award nominees\, including winners for Rock Album of the Year in 2003 (Gravity) and 1998 (Clumsy). \nThe pair has also co-written countless hits for artists such as Kelly Clarkson\, David Cook and Carrie Underwood. \nWhile Kreviazuk and Maida are quick to lend their time to the studio and stage\, they are equally committed to lending their help to those in need — both in Canada and internationally. In March\, the couple received the 2014 Allan Waters Humanitarian Award that recognizing outstanding Canadian artists whose contributions have positively enhanced the social fabric of Canada. \n“Not only am I able to express myself\, and be able to play music for others and be creative for a living in life\, but I can go to the next level and be a part of true greatness — the process of another human being’s healing\, possibly playing even a small role in improving the quality of life of another\,” Kreviazuk said. \nWar Child Canada is one of the many organizations the married couple has embraced. Kreviazuk is an honourary founder and active in various causes including women’s rights\, war refugees and child education. Maida launched War Child’s Busking for Change program\, in which Canadian musicians have raised money for children in the world’s most devastated regions\, supporting initiatives such as the construction of schools in the Congo. Additionally the couple has recorded contributions for multiple benefit albums for War Child. \n“I was first drawn to music because of the inherent ‘hope’ it provided me\,” Maida said. “Social activism carries that same promise and the two together have shaped and taught me more than I could ever repay.”

SUMMARY:Slow Leaves
DESCRIPTION:Grant Davidson\, known professionally as Slow Leaves\, is a Canadian singer\, songwriter\, and musician.\n\n\nGrant Davidson\, known professionally as Slow Leaves\, is a Canadian singer\, songwriter\, and musician. Davidson began playing guitar at age 15\, inspired after discovering a Led Zeppelin II cassette tape in his older brother’s room. It was a finger-picked guitar however that would eventually form the heart of his songs. \n \nAfter three shoe-string budget albums under his own name\, Davidson debuted as Slow Leaves in 2014 with Beauty Is So Common\, followed by Enough About Me in 2017. In 2020 he released the strikingly vulnerable Shelf Life (Birthday Cake) which represented the culmination of a distinctive poetic voice exploring recurring themes of romantic memory\, artistic ambition\, and dreams left unfulfilled. \n \nOn his most recent release\, 2021’s Holiday (Birthday Cake)\, Davidson sought reprieve from pointed self-analysis\, this time observing life through a decidedly more abstract lens. “I started recording music simply for fun\,” he explains\, “trying not to overthink\, avoiding the impulse to turn every song into a personal manifesto. I needed a break from myself”. \n \nDavidson’s voice is fragile and assured. His music could exist as comfortably in the ‘70s as it does in today’s age of curated images and hollow soundbites\, when vulnerability can be seen as defiance and sincerity as radical.
