‘Gowns for Grads’ Provides Free Gowns to Graduating Teens

Over 1,000 gowns have been donated to the Gowns for Grads program by local Winnipegers and businesses.

The Gowns for Grads program was started by the St. John’s High School grad committee. Earlier this month, the committee asked for donations of new or gently used gowns for St. John’s grads. This program was started after hearing that some young women do not attend their grad because they do not have a gown to wear.

Due to the high number of dress donations, the program has been opened to students from other schools in and around Winnipeg.

All gently used dresses have been dry cleaned at no cost by Dollar Wise Quality Cleaners.

Students that have pre-applied for gowns will be at the Gown Boutique today at Canad Inns Polo Park, Ambassador Ballroom. There they will be greeted by their own personal shopper who will assist them in choosing the perfect grad gown.

What a great program! You can read more on the Gowns for Grads program at www.gownsforgrads.org.
