The city is prepared to approve a smoking ban at any outdoor sports fields while being used by children. The bylaw will also prohibit smoking on any playgrounds on school property.
This is a great move by the city. Adults should be setting a positive example instead of sparking a cigarette while kids engage in sporting activities or play on play structures.
Smoking will still be allowed on outdoor sports fields if two adult teams are playing each other.
