Anaheim Ducks to Retire Teemu Selanne's No. 8

The Anaheim Ducks will retire Teemu Selanne’s No. 8 on January 11, 2015 when the Winnipeg Jets visit Anaheim.

It will be a “Teemu Tribute Night”. Teemu will be the first Ducks player to have his number retired. Selanne finished his Ducks career as the Ducks all-time leader in:

  • Assists (531)
  • Points (988)
  • Plus/minus (plus-120)
  • Games (966)
  • Power-play goals (182)
  • Game-winning goals (77)
  • Overtime goals (6)
  • Shots (2,964)

The Ducks also won the Stanley Cup with Selanne back in 2007.

Teemu Selanne was selected 10th overall, at the 1988 NHL Entry Draft by the Winnipeg Jets. However he decided to stay in Finland. He played his first NHL game with the Jets in 1992 and won Calder Memorial Trophy after breaking the single-season rookie record for goals with 76. [CBC]
