Jane Jacobs was an urbanist and activist whose writings championed a fresh, community-based approach to city building. After Jane died in 2002, people wanted her legacy to live on by offering an event that educates participants about urban history, planning, design and civic engagement.
This is the first year that Jane’s Walk has been planned here in Winnipeg. It is a free event, and and consists of one to two hours walks throughout different areas of the city. The walks are scheduled during the day may 3rd and 4th.
I think this is a great event to encourage fitness, meet neighbours and learn about the history of your community.
