Bye Bye PETA! Originally uploaded by meganpru
Peta (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has started an ad campaign using the Greyhound incident as it’s punch line. Not the best way to win over the Canadian supporters. The naked women ads are nice. Heck, they’re really nice. This new ad however, is clearly not a great idea.
The ad tries, very hard, to compare the tragedy to how animals are treated in slaughter houses. It would appear to also try and make mention to the cannibalism that was said to have occurred as well.
“PETA’s ad…is meant to spur people to think about the terror and pain experienced by animals who are raised and killed for food. The group aims to demonstrate that animals — just like humans — are made of flesh, blood, and bone and deserve protection from needless killing,” – CBC Canada; Taken from Peta’s website.
Peta wanted to have the ad ran in Portage la Prairie’s local paper but the publisher has turned down that offer. Whoever said there was no such thing as bad publicity, clearly didn’t know about Peta.
