Rebates are everywhere nowadays and is really hard to avoid if you are looking for a good deal. Consumer Promotion Group (CPG), a rebate fulfillment company, has filed for bankruptcy protection. They are responsible for receiving your rebates, processing them, and then sending a cheque back to you. They deal with many large vendors/companies such as Home Depot, Best Buy, Futureshop, and others as well as other hardware/software companies.

So what does this mean to you? The items that you have purchased with a rebate may not be valid anymore, or the cheque that you recieve may bounce and you get dinged for a NSF charge.

What should you do? From what I’ve been reading up is not much, just hang in there and wait to see what happens. You may want to contact the place that you purchased your item to see if they are honoring the rebate store level instead. In the States, some stores such as Costco, Canon and Pricegrabber are offering this option.
