Canada Day Picnic in the Park at Assiniboine Park (Fireworks at Dusk)
Mayor’s Family Day at the Zoo (Assiniboine Park Zoo Free All Day)
Osborne Village Canada Day Street Festival (Osborne Street will be closed between River and Gertrude from 5 pm Tuesday until 1am Thursday)
SHOPPING MALLS:
Portage Place – closed July 1st, 2009
Polo Park Shopping Centre – closed July 1st, 2009
St. Vital Centre – closed July 1st, 2009
CITY OF WINNIPEG OFFICES:
All civic offices are closed Wednesday, July 1, 2009
WATER AND WASTE:
Single-Family Homes: No recycling or garbage collection on July 1, 2009. Collection will resume July 2, 2009 – Day 5 on the five-day cycle
Multi-Family Appartments: Recycling and garbage collection will continue as scheduled
WINNIPEG TRANSIT:
Winnipeg Transit will operate on a Sunday Schedule. There will also be a FREE Canada Day Shuttle linking Downtown, The Forks and Osborne Village. The FREE shuttle service begins at 12:00pm and runs until 12:00am
Post-Fireworks Departure:
Leaving The Forks: Buses to all parts of the city will be available northbound on Main Street at York.
Leaving Assiniboine Park: Extra buses will be parked eastbound Portage at Overdale to take passengers downtown.
2 extra buses will be parked westbound Portage at Overdale to provide service to the St. James Assiniboia area.
LIBRARIES:
All Libraries are closed Wednesday, July 1, 2009
SWIMMING POOLS:
All in-door pools except Pan Am Pool are closed on Wednesday July 1, 2009. Pan Am Pool is open 11am – 4pm.
All out-door pools are open on Wednesday July 1, 2009.
GOLF COURSES:
All municipal are open on Wednesday, July 1, 2009.
