40 years ago today JFK’s dream came to reality sending an American to be the first man on the moon.

Apollo 11, consisting of Neil Armstrong, Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin and Michael Collins, landed on the Sea of Tranquility on July 20, 1969. Neil Armstrong then said the famous phrase One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind while taking the biggest step in history.

NASA is working on releasing newly restored footage from the Apollo 11 landing which will be released later on this year. One shot actually shows Neil Armstrong’s face through the visor of his space suit.

NASA is also working really hard to promote a new website they have called wechoosethemoon.org. It is an interactive website that guides you through the Apollo 11 mission step by step as it happens.
