I got the chance to attend the NBA’s annual 3on3 tournament (Ballers Unite aka Hoop It Up) for the first time this year. I was actually supposed to play in it as well, but a late back injury forced me to sit this one out… maybe next year!

If you’ve never attended the annual tournament and are a basketball fan, then I highly encourage you to check it out next year – even if its just as a spectator. There is no shortage of things to do at 3on3. There is great basketball clinics for young Winnipegers wanting to learn more about the wonderful game of basketball. The Juicy Fruit one-on-one court was a big hit, where young basketball players got to compete one-on-one, and after ever play they would received tips on how to make their game better.

As a spectator you can participate in various events such as one-on-one pick up games, 2-ball, a 3-point shootout, skills challenge, and various other mini-games for great prizes.

There are also various vendors giving away free schwag such as Juicy Fruit Gum, cell-phone cases and wrist bands from Basketball Manitoba.

All-in-all, it was a great weekend for the 3on3. The sun was shining all weekend, no mosquitoes, plus great music! Keep an eye on NBA’s official 3on3 website for official photos and more!
