Nothing is official yet, but all the stars seem to be aligning for the Winnipeg Police Service to get its first Helicopter.
The Police Chopper is expected to cost around $2 million and have an annual operating cost of $600,000. If everything continues to go well, we should have it in the airs of Winnipeg by Summer 2010.
The Police Helicopter will provide the WPS a safer and quicker way to move throughout the city. It is equipped with an infrared camera which can track criminals on the run.
The best part? Yes, the big shiny spot light the helicopter will have. It’s going to be just like the movies!
