The Olympic Torch will be in Manitoba on Tuesday January 5, 2010 for a 4-day tour.
The torch will arrive at 4:30pm on Tuesday at the Ed Golding Memorial Arena (517 Pandora Ave). It will run through Transcona, Elmwood, St. Boniface and the downtown and finish off at The Forks around 7pm.
The Forks will host an Olympic Torch Relay Community Celebration. The Celebration includes performances by Tracy Bone, Chic Gamine, Norman Chief Memorial Dancers, Brakada and Doc Walker. Lots of great things to see and do – all concluded by fireworks.
In total, 50 Manitobans will carry the torch through the province for 300-metres each. A few are Darren Zembik (arena manager and ice maker at the St. Andrews Community Club), Noah Palansky (student at the Gray Academy of Jewish Education), and Lloyd Axworthy (President of University of Winnipeg).
