Starting December, Safeway will be replacing some of their in-house Starbucks kiosks with Tim Horton’s. This is part of a trial project to see how well Tim Horton’s does inside Safeway. To date, there are 166 Safeway stores in Western Canada with a in-house Starbucks kiosks.
Before you get too upset/excited, only one Safeway in Winnipeg will be getting the Tim Horton’s treatment. The Safeway in Transcona was the chosen location. It currently doesn’t have a coffee outlet.
The main reason for the proposed change is that many Safeways are located near free standing Starbucks locations. With the change, Safeway plans to offer a wider variety of coffee to its customers (also donuts!)
