Manitoba Public Insurance clarified that drivers are responsible for their deductible if their vehicle is hit by a stolen car, even if the suspect is arrested red handed!
MPI states that the suspects aren’t car thieves until they are convicted in court. Drivers will get their deductible back once the suspect has been convicted and found guilty.
This definitely has to be re-evaluated. If my car gets hit by a speeding stolen vehicle… I’m not going to pay a cent!!
