With the construction of the new Bomber inching closer and closer to completion, the city has now officially put the old Canad Inns Stadium located at Polo Park for sale.
They are accepting requests until June 3 and selecting a buyer by mid-July. The expectation is high density mixed-use development.
Highlights of the Canad Inns Stadium tender:
— Developers have until June 3 to express interest in buying the stadium site
— Looking for buyer for the entire 26.2 acre site
— There is an “expectation” proposals will include plans for high density, mixed use development
— Developer must demolish stadium at no cost to the city
— Plan must include a study on the development’s impact on traffic in the area
— Any building on the site must be less than 150 feet tall, due to proximity to airport
— Site is being sold “as is, where is”
— City will not publicly disclose the contents of the submissions it receives
— Successful proponent should be selected by mid-to-late July
So if you have some extra millions laying around, perhaps you’d like to buy some prime property.
