Winnipeggers may soon be greeted by a new restaurant when entering Winnipeg’s French Quarter via the Provencher Bridge. Chez Sophie Bistro, a restaurant focusing on French cuisine, has been recommended by the Winnipeg Public Service to be awarded a five-year lease agreement for the 4,000 square foot building on the bridge, commencing April 1, 2013.
An administrative report states that the lease agreement would require the restaurant to have bilingual menus and signage, and bilingual staff during the summer months.
The city received 3 formal proposals for the popular Esplanade Riel pedestrian bridge location. Chez Sophie Bistro was selected and the proposal will now be reviewed by the Standing Policy Committee on Downtown Development.
