For the first time in its history, the Assiniboine Park Zoo will be home to penguins.
The HUB Horizon Insurance Penguin Cove will open at the Zoo for a limited time throughout spring and summer 2013 and will allow visitors to have a unique, up close experience with a group of African black-footed penguins.
The temporary exhibit will consist of a self-contained penguin ecosystem attached to a retrofitted version of the Zoo’s old gift shop near the International Polar Bear Conservation Centre.
African penguins measure approximately 40 cm tall and are known for being very active
and engaging animals.
Aspecific opening date forHUB Horizon Insurance Penguin Cove has not yet been set although it is anticipated to be open by early May.
