The City has launched a website dedicated to the sales of surplus fleet vehicles to the general public.
“This new approach for the disposal of surplus assets will allow us to obtain the best resale value possible and create additional revenue for the City,” said Mike Ruta, the City’s Chief Financial Officer.
The City previously used auctions to dispose its surplus vehicles but has since moved to Calgary’s method for sale of surplus assets. Calgary has reported revenues 10 to 20 per cent higher than those sold through auctions.
Vehicles on the website will be available for viewing by appointment only and are sold as is and with no guarantees or warranties. Payment can be made by:
- bank draft
- certified cheque
- money order
