Here’s what’s open and what’s closed this Victoria Day long weekend.

Victoria Day is a federal Canadian statutory holiday celebrated on the last Monday on or before May 24, in honour of both Queen Victoria’s birthday.


Mall Hours:

  • Polo Park – Open 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM on Victoria Day – Monday, May 19
  • St. Vital Centre – Open 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM on Victoria Day – Monday, May 19

All civic offices are closed on Victoria Day, Monday, May 19, 2014.

Recycling/Garbage Collection Schedule

Single-family homes

Recycling, garbage and yard waste will be collected as normally scheduled for those with Monday as a collection day.

Multi-family apartments

Recycling and garbage collection will continue as normally scheduled.

Brady Road Resource Management Facility (Brady Road Landfill)

Saturday, May 17 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Sunday, May 18 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Monday, May 19 5:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Hours of operation for the Fort Rouge Leisure Centre and St. James Civic Centre during the Victoria Day weekend are as follows:

Sunday, May 18 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Monday, May 19 Closed

St. James Civic Centre

Swimming Pools

All City of Winnipeg swimming pools will be closed on Monday, May 19, except Pan Am Pool and Fitness Centre, and the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex and Fitness Centre.

Pan Am Pool and Fitness Centre will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 19.

The Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex and Fitness Centre will be open from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, May 19.

Regular hours of operation are in effect for all pools on Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18.

Libraries

Hours of operation for Winnipeg Public Libraries during the Victoria Day weekend are as follows:

Saturday, May 17 Regular hours of operation
Sunday, May 18 Regular hours of operation
Monday, May 19 All branches are closed

Note: Winnipeg Public Library branches switch to summer hours starting Tuesday, May 20; weekend hours will change. Fall/winter hours resume September 2, 2014 (after Labour Day).

Online services, including catalogue searches, requests/renewals, databases, and eBooks are available anytime at Winnipeg Public Library.

Animal Services Agency

Hours of operation for Animal Services Agency during the Victoria Day weekend are as follows:

Friday, May 16 Regular hours – 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Saturday, May 17 Regular hours – 12 noon to 5:00 p.m.
Sunday, May 18 Regular hours – 12 noon to 5:00 p.m.
Monday, May 19 Closed
Tuesday, May 20 Regular hours – 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
