The Assiniboine Park Zoo saw recording breaking numbers in December. It saw the highest visitation numbers since it started recording attendance in 1991.
Nearly 10,000 people visited the Zoo in December, which was three times as many as in December 2013.
“The Zoo has always been a great winter experience for families, but with the addition of the Journey to Churchill exhibit, it really is an entirely new experience,” said Laura Cabak, Brand & Communications Manager. “In many ways, animal activity is highest during the colder months and when you combine the beauty of the outdoor animal experiences with even more indoor venues, it really is a fantastic winter destination.”
The spike in attendance is attributed to the new Journey to Churchill exhibit, which expands on the many indoor attractions throughout the Zoo. The Zoo also offers free hot chocolate for kids at the Tundra Grill until the end of February.
