Walmart Supercentre, the lead tenant at the new Grant Park Pavilions being built at the corner of Pembina Highway and Taylor Avenue, will open on Thursday, Janurary 29, 2015.
There will be grand opening celebrations from 11:00am – 3:00pm.
Construction on the 160,000-square-foot Walmart location began last May. Its the 7th Walmart in Winnipeg and will service River Heights, Fort Rouge and even downtown Winnipeg.
The 24.2-hectare Grant Park Pavilions site will eventually include large-format retail, smaller retail, restaurants, office space, apartments and possibly senior housing.
There will also be 18 pathways for bikes, pedestrians and buses.
This comes as great news for Grant Park residents. The Target at Grant Park Mall will soon close its doors. This Walmart will definitely fill the void it will be leaving.
