Motorists are reminded that the reduced speed limit at School Zones will be back in effect on Tuesday, September 1, 2015.
Back on September 2, 2014 (the first business day to fall under the new law) officers issued 128 tickets and 173 warnings in various school zones around the city.
The speed limit will be 30 km/h between 7:00am and 5:30pm at most school zones in accordance to by-law 76/2014.
The reduced speed limit will be enforced until June 30, 2015.
Speed limits at school zones are reduced to 30 km/h during the months of September to June inclusive, between the hours of 07:00 and 17:30, Monday to Friday.
“The implementation of reduced-speed school zones is intended to make the transportation system more forgiving for children, who tend to have the most difficulty gauging the speed of vehicular traffic,” said Luis Escobar, Manager of Transportation.
Just slow down.
