Temporary conservation measures have been put in place to protect walleye populations in Dauphin Lake.
In order to protect Walleye during their spawing period, no commercial or recreational fishing is allowed on Dauphin Lake.
Aboriginal rights holders may continue to harvest all species of fish, but by angling only. They must release any walleye between 45 and 70 centimetres in length.
When Manitoba Conservation and Water Stewardship determines the spring walleye spawning has been completed, the restriction will be lifted.
Dauphin Lake is located in western Manitoba near the city of Dauphin.
