Twitter and the NFL have signed a deal that will allow users to live stream Thursday night football for FREE this season.
The deal is targeted towards ‘cord-cutters’ who have discontinued their cable-tv services in favour of streaming content online (legally or illegally). With the recent hike in cable subscription services, more and more people are choose to ‘cut the cord’.
The NFL also hopes to reach a global market by making Thursday Night Games globally available on Twitter. Though it’s the largest sport in the U.S., its global acceptance has been minimal.
There will be 10 Thursday night games this season. Twitter will also offer the pre and post-game shows as well as behind-the-scene Periscope footage during the games.
You will need a Twitter account to view the live stream.
