‘Opening Soon’ signage has gone up for Winnipeg’s first Jollibee location.
Jollibee, a Filipino fast-food chain dubbed the McDonalds of the Philippines, will open on 1400 St. James Street by McDonalds and Starbucks. An official opening date has yet to be announced.
There are 662,605 Canadians with ethnic origins in the Philippines. Winnipeg has the third largest Filipino community in Canada by total population, and the largest by percentage (8.7%).
As of January 2015, there are more than 3,000 Jollibee restaurants worldwide.
