There’s no such thing as free money. Manitoba Public Insurance is warning customers of a text messaging scam going around that offers an e-transfer of money.
The text message claims to be from MPI and asks the customer to click a link which will send a refund via e-mail money transfer. The link leads to a website that appears to be your normal banking website… but it’s actually a fake site stealing and storing your private information. There are numerous forms of this scam going around.
Manitoba Public Insurance says that it does not conduct business in this manner. If you’ve received a similar text and have questions on it’s legitimacy, you can call 204-985-7000.
