Winnipeg Transit Fares will go up 5 cents on January 1, 2020. Transit fares usually increased annually based on inflation rates to fund operations. However, in 2019 there was a fare freeze because Winnipeg Transit was heading toward a $7.9-million surplus.
The usual 5 cent price increase will return in 2020.
Full and Handi-Transit cash fares will go up to $3.00. Reduced and Senior cash fares will be $2.50. There will also be new rates for tickets and passes.
2019 bus tickets will be accepted until March 31, 2020, but you’ll have to pay the difference in cash.
