The Winnipeg Police Helicopter has had a busy February!
On February 11, 2020, at approximately 1:40am, police observed a stolen 2003 Mercedes Benz at Broadway Avenue and Maryland Street. Officers followed the vehicle from the distance while AIR1 responded.
AIR1 followed vehicle for approximately 30 minutes while the vehicle was drove in an erratic manner. It disobeyed several traffic control devices and also traveled at a high rate of speed and into oncoming traffic, narrowly avoiding a collision.
Police successfully deployed a tire deflation device and the driver eventually lost control on the west Perimeter Highway near Center Port.
As soon as the driver exited the vehicle he discarded a loaded shotgun, which was recovered by officers.
Lee Edward Douglas PASHE, a 32-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with numerous firearm, property, and driving offences. He was remanded into custody.
