Manitoba Makes $2.5 Million Bid to Become 'CFL Bubble' for 2020 Season

The Province of Manitoba is hoping that Winnipeg can be the host city for the CFL’s 2020 season. The CFL is looking for a single city to host the 2020 season in its entirety. Similar to the NHL and NBA, players will enter a ‘bubble’ situation where they wont be able to leave once the season has started.

They province expects a direct return of almost $5-million on their investment which will benefit the hard-hit tourism and hospitality sectors.

Manitoba will be competing with Saskatchewan who announced a $3-million bid to attract the CFL to Regina.

The 2020 season is expected to last 15 weeks and consist of 60-games. Funds from the province will go towards food, accommodations, practice field rentals, group transportation and other event-specific expenses.

Fans most likely won’t be allowed into IG Field for any games if Winnipeg becomes the host city.
