Godzilla Minus One took home the 2024 Oscar for Best Visual Effects. It did while working within a total production budget of less than $15 million. In comparison, 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters had a production budget of $170,000,000.
Godzilla Minus One broke various records at the box office. It became the highest-grossing live-action Japanese film ever released in the United States, as well as the third-highest grossing foreign language release in U.S. history. It is Toho’s highest-grossing film in Godzilla franchise history.
